Our Origin Story

“Engaging with people is the best way to build trust when it comes to organic, handcrafted herbal products,” said Faith Rodgers, owner and certified clinical herbalist of Little Herbal Apothecary in Old Town Lafayette.

The Little Herbal Apothecary retail store opened in Old Town Lafayette in 2017, but Faith began planting the seeds for it years earlier when she chose to study medical herbalism at the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism. While in school, she worked in herbal consultation and nutrition before joining an apothecary in Boulder. When family and lifestyle needs called for a change, Faith started her own online business making and selling herbal products. As her business grew, she sought out the perfect location to open a storefront — and found that place in Old Town Lafayette.

New Space, New Opportunities

Little Herbal Apothecary recently moved to its new, more accommodating space at 210 S. Public Road in April so that Faith and her team of herbalists could make and carry more products (all are small-batch, organic and handmade in the store) as well as expand workshop, event and private party offerings within the space.

Beyond being health conscious about what customers are consuming and putting on their skin, Little Herbal Apothecary is committed to choosing sustainable environmental practices and reducing waste. Customers are encouraged to participate in the store’s product refill program, and the new store location has an entire section dedicated to reuse products.

A 360-Degree Wellness Experience

Whether experienced in the benefits of herbal products and medicines or purely curious about organic health and wellness options, Little Herbal Apothecary creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for anyone exploring herbal products, practices and ingredients. From fan favorites like Rose & Carrot Face Cream to herbal medicinal remedies like Rescue Salve for inflammation and nerve support, Little Herbal Apothecary has crafted a 360-degree wellness experience for guests that encourages trial, experimentation and fun! Join a Local Herbs Plant Walk to learn about herbs and how they can be used for everyday wellness or trial products at one of the many Make & Take Nights where you can sip wine, socialize and discover the world of herbal skin care.

“Our workshops and parties allow people to interact with herbal medicine, learn about products and make their own so that they understand the ingredients and benefits before buying,” said Faith. “It’s a great entry point for anyone interested in herbal products and discovering what fits their needs and lifestyle.”
