“WOW! on Tap”: A Night for Grown-Ups, A Win for Kids

Saturday, September 6 | 6:00–9:30 PM | WOW! Children’s Museum | Tickets

It’s not easy to find a night out that hits all the right notes: fun, affordable, meaningful, and actually worth getting out the door for.

WOW! on Tap” is that night.

This is WOW! Children’s Museum like you’ve never experienced it before. An unforgettable evening where grown-ups get to play, laugh, eat, drink, explore, and do something good for the community.

Whether you’re a parent who needs a break, a longtime WOW! supporter, or just someone who hasn’t used a bubble tower in a few decades (or ever!), you’re invited.

What the Night Looks Like

WOW! is transforming the Museum into a one-night-only, after-hours playspace (21+ only!) for laughter, connection, and community. You’ll find:

  • A live jazz trio curated by local musician Jesse Garland
  • A prohibition-style signature cocktail (yes, gin will be involved)
  • Local beer, wine, and heavy appetizers
  • Open access to all WOW! exhibits, from the bubble zone to the ship to the light wall
  • Classic games reimagined for grown-ups: Plinko, wild wine toss, test tube pull (with gift cards!)
  • A museum-wide scavenger hunt
  • The Shutterbus photo van for those perfect “remember this night” pics (because your kids and grandkids won’t believe you encased yourself in a bubble without photo evidence!)

This year’s theme is “A Toast to the 20s” (both the roaring kind and their own!). WOW! is celebrating the end of its 29th year, and looking ahead to a bold new decade.

Come in costume if you’d like, or just show up in whatever feels like you. It’s about fun, not fussy.

Why This Night Matters

“WOW! on Tap” is more than a party. It’s the most important fundraiser of the year for the museum’s Play for All initiative, which keeps WOW! accessible to every child, no matter their background or ability.

This year, they are aiming to raise $50,000—their biggest goal yet.

That funding directly supports:

  • Sensory-friendly playtimes with experts and therapists available to support kids and caregivers
  • Expanded access to our Girls in Science event, which hit record attendance this year
  • The Littlest Learners program for infants and toddlers, with plans to take it into local parks, libraries, and community spaces, making it even MORE accessible
  • Scholarships, field trips, and inclusive learning programs that reach families across multiple counties

Everything this event raises goes right back into creating hands-on, joyful, community-rooted experiences for children.

Local Flavor, Inside and Out

Another “wow” element to this event is how deeply it’s tied to the community. All drinks are donated by local breweries. Food is sourced from favorite local spots. And the silent auction? It’s packed with experiences you’ll actually want:

  • Two-night stay at The Brown Palace (breakfast included)
  • Two separate Mexico getaways (airfare not included)
  • Private in-home chef dinner
  • Gym and fitness memberships
  • Full pickleball experiences

This event is built by people who love this place and that’s what gives it its energy.

Your Daily Dose of “WOW!”

There’s a little girl who started coming to WOW! for the sensory-friendly playtimes a few years ago. And like a lot of kids navigating a different way of thinking and processing, traditional spaces didn’t always feel welcoming.

But WOW! was different. Soft lights, lowered sounds, adaptive equipment, and room to just be—without judgment. Her mom says WOW! feels like home. This summer, she came to the kindergarten readiness event and walked in like she owned the place. She’s starting school now and is more confident and more connected. And part of that journey was playing in a space built with her in mind.

Stories like this are why the people at WOW! do what they do. Belonging, joy, permission to explore. Adults feel it too. Especially on this night.

At “WOW! on Tap,” grown-ups find themselves climbing into the exhibits, laughing over the wine toss, or huddled around a bubble machine with friends. There’s no pretense. No pressure. Just play. And just like the young visitors, for a few hours, everything else gets left at the door.

“We believe in hands-on learning, face-to-face connection, and letting kids be kids. This museum is built on play, but it’s also built on access. The ‘WOW! on Tap’ fundraising event makes all of that possible.”
— Joanna Cagan, Executive Director
