William Oliver’s Beer & Food Pairing

Join us May 24th at 6pm for a fun evening of food and drinks. We are pairing our dishes with Upslope Brewing Company Beer. Jack W. (Upslope) and Jack C. (William Oliver’s) will guide us through an amazing evening of food, beer, and good times.

Price includes food, 8 ounces of each beer, tax, and tip.

We will explore the following pairings:

-Citra Pale Ale paired with thick-cut applewood smoked bacon
-Hazy IPA paired with creamy mac & cheese topped with bacon crumbles, pulled pork, and house made pork green chili
-Mary Jane Ale paired with a pulled pork slider with tangy BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, and feta cheese
-German Pils paired with pretzels and beer cheese sauce
N.Z. IPA paired with jalapeños stuffed with maple bacon bourbon spread wrapped in bacon

Make & Take Night: Organic Perfume Oil

Learn Local Herbs: Urban Plant Walk

The foothills of Colorado are home to some of the most powerful and cherished plants used in traditional western herbalism. Join certified clinical herbalist, forager, and medicine maker Liz Faermark on an urban plant walk to learn about the herbs that are unique to our home, and why we use them. Once you meet these plants, you’ll start seeing them everywhere – along hiking trails, in backyards, on roadsides, and in your favorite herbal products. This bioregional plant medicine class will be held in person and outside. Class will begin at Little Herbal Apothecary in Lafayette, CO! From there, we’ll wander our way through Old Town Lafayette.

Hard-To-Recycle Collection Event

The City of Lafayette invites Lafayette residents to the first-ever Hard-To-Recycle event in partnership with Eco-Cycle and Boulder County Hazardous Waste.

Residents can drop off the items below for FREE:

Styrofoam blocks clean and dry – remove labels and tape
Household batteries please use clear tape on both terminal ends and ensure there are no leaks
Fluorescent tubes and bulbs labeled with the letters “Hg” (Mercury)
Plastic Film bubble wrap, plastic shopping bags, Ziploc bags must be empty, clean, and dry with stickers and receipts removed. No plastic food wrap.
Paint (Latex and Oil-Based)

Residents can also drop off small electronics with batteries or cords.

CPUs (tower computers), laptops, chargers, and cell phones are free.
CRT Monitors are $0.69/lb and other small electronics are $0.59/lb.
No broken glass CRT TV’s or Projection TV’s

Only Lafayette residents can participate in the event. Please register as spaces are limited!

Earth Day Every Day

The City of Lafayette invites residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the several ways you can protect the Earth, fight climate change, and create a sustainable Lafayette every day.

This family-friendly event will have opportunities to learn from EV owners, peddle on energy bikes to make watermelon slushies, eat cookies baked in a solar oven, listen to local musicians, enjoy food trucks, visit with over 20 sustainability vendors, and tour our Outdoor Classroom.

Tours and many activities will be available in both English and Spanish.

Chocolate Making Workshops: Pralines, Truffles & More

Learn how to make your own pralines, truffles and more! In this workshop you will learn several techniques for making truffles and ganache, including alcohol infused truffles. You will have a chance to roll in various flavors and garnishes into your chocolate and learn to get creative with the “left over” tempered chocolate. Each guest will take home a gift box of yummy chocolate that they made and the knowledge to make it again at home!

Tincture Making Workshop

Learn how to make your own tinctures at the Little Herbal Apothecary! Tinctures are made with alcohol and water to extract the medicinal properties of herbs. They are a wonderful and convenient way of taking herbal medicine. In this informative class we will discuss and demonstrate methods to make fresh and dried plant tinctures. Participants will go home with a sample as well as the resources to make their own tinctures at home. All materials will be provided!

Yoga Workshop: Yoga for Skiers

What’s the secret to feeling your best on the slopes? Cross-training! Join us for an all-levels yoga workshop specifically targeted at engaging and stretching the muscle groups used in alpine and Nordic skiing. We will begin with a gentle vinyasa flow to warm the body, transitioning into a series of deep yin stretches to fortify the connective tissues, a fantastic way to build resilience and prevent injury. Not only will you walk away from class feeling deeply restored, but you will also walk away with the tools to know how to properly warm up and cool down after a long day on the slopes. This workshop is specifically for winter athletes to understand the proper muscle stretches for injury prevention. Julia Woods, certified yoga instructor, will teach slowly, providing opportunities to stop, ask questions, and dive deeper into anatomy.
